The Mill and The Cross by Lech Majewski (2011)

It stars Charlotte Rampling (The Swimming Pool writer character) as well as Michael York (Cabaret!) and Rutger Hauer (the Blade Runner guy!!).

The whole idea centres around the life and experience of Pieter Breughel the Elder when painting one of his famous works.

It looks very similar to those typical American experiments of re-creating a live painting by dressing up and standing for a couple of minutes in a frame.

Only this time, it is not a 1-2 people painting, but a whole complex group of people in the first plan, and in the background.

I was never a fan of Breugel’s paintings.

The experiment is interesting but I would not watch it again nor recommend to anyone who is not an art freak.
